Book week

An Angler - Sea Fishing Properly Explained by Ian Ball
Veruca Salt - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl

A Vampire Bat - Bizarre Beasts by Anita Ganeri

Yes folks, it's that time of year again, Book Week, when the children have to go in fancy dress as their favourite character. Not as straight forward as it sounds.

Aedan prefers reference books to fiction and as long as he reads, I really don't mind! Combined with one of his favourite pastimes, we came up with an angler.

Ciara is doing an author study at school, Roald Dahl, and claims she has to go as a character from one of his books, hence Veruca. Couldn't quite stretch to the mink jacket, so a cardy with a fluffy collar will have to suffice.

Conall was really taken with his library book this week, which happened to be a reference book this time. I'm kind of relieved he went for the bat and not the duck-billed platypus.

What fun was had by all. (Like I had the time, in between cooking, baking, cleaning, washing, ironing and having my haircut in time for my parents to visit this weekend!)

Great photos - I love it when you post photies! Well done you for all of your handiwork! I'm not always best pleased when the school decides to "do fun things" that involve me heavily in being creative!

Hope the hair went well. You've reminded me, I must get mine done before I see mum the week after next!!

Lots of love

Have to confess, only really had to make one, the other two were just putting together the right attire! What a relief only to have three this year, that made things alot easier and I think we had a little more notice than usual too.

For the first time in my entire life, I am enjoying going to the hairdressers. He's called Ron, he wears a kilt, (he's English?!) and he's really nice, makes me feel really at ease, not to mention an excellent stylist, which is, after all, what it's all about.

Mind you, I don't know why I bothered getting it done. Mum's more likely to say it looks nice if it really needs a good cut. Her subtle way of telling me it's too short, me thinks.

Ah well.
